Jen commented that she needed proof that the picture I posted was in fact computer generated. I don't know if this will satisfy her but here's the same picture in wire-frame, before the textures and color were added.
You know how you can look in a clothes catalogue and see the same picture of a shirt but in different colors? They'll show the exact photo of a model in the shirt, but have three different colors. I don't mean to sound so skeptical, but it looks like they just took a photo and used the computer to take out the color and put the wire-frame on. The shadows are already there in that wire-frame.

That's entirely possible but even if this picture isn't computer generated, I still believe it could be.
Also, if you used a computer to remove the color, the shadows would come out too. Shadows are just shades of black to the computer.
